Leslie A. Lyon, 25, Epping, N.D., died Sunday, June 19, 2022, at her home; a tragic victim of a violent and unprovoked shooting.

She was born Sept. 13, 1996, at Maplewood, Minn., to Brett and Jennifer (Balts) Lyon. She was raised and attended school in Cameron, graduating high school in 2015. She was currently attending Chippewa Valley Technical College, Eau Claire, studying to become a paralegal.

Leslie grew up mainly in a rural setting and enjoyed the outdoors, especially the many camping experiences with her dad and siblings. She loved fishing, and despite moving around a lot and making noise, she was very successful at out-catching her fishing buddies.

Leslie also enjoyed rock-hounding and would often travel to Lake Superior to search for agates. Most recently, she enjoyed looking for fossils, opals, and other gems and minerals in North Dakota with her mom and daughters.

Leslie recently started her own business, cleaning cabins and homes with a focus on deep cleaning “move outs.” Leslie loved animals, especially cats and dogs, and always had one or the other, or both, in her life.

Leslie was a spirited girl with a big heart, showing compassion and kindness to everyone she met. She loved her Lord Jesus and expressed her faith in His plan of salvation.

Leslie’s greatest loves on this earth were her two beautiful daughters, Clara (5) and Eloise (9 1/2 months), both spirited and happy, like their mom.

Surviving are her daughters Clara Jane Ray and Eloise Anne Lyon-Kodesh, and her mother Jennifer Balts, all of Epping; her father Brett Lyon of Rice Lake; a brother Jacob Lyon of Barron; a sister Katie (Bryan Enstad) Lyon and niece Aurora Enstad Lyon, all of Cameron; paternal grandparents Stan (Jean) Lyon of Oregon, Wis., and Beverly Pike of Sarona; as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Leslie was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents Lester and Esther Balts; and a cousin Michele Halverson-Michaels.

A memorial of Leslie’s life will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 8, from Foursquare Gospel Church, Barron, with Rev. David Smith officiating. Visitation will be held an hour prior to services.

Burial will be at Dallas Cemetery, Town of Dallas.
